NEW MISSIONARIES ARRIVE! NUEVOS MISIONEROS LLEGAN!

Our last group of missionaries arrived on May 31st -- six elders and one sister. They arrived on Tuesday morning and we went from the airport to the mission home for training with the office elders and nurses, lunch, and more training.  Then we went to the office to fill out forms, e-mail their families, and have their interviews with Pres. Dennis. Afterwards they went to the temple. The next day we had a training meeting with their trainers in the office and at the end of the day they left for their new sectors.  It was very sad to think that was our last group of new missionaries.  We are going to miss those special times.

El último grupo de misioneros llegó el 31 de mayo -- seis élderes y una hermana. Llegaron el martes en la mañana y fuimos del aeropuerto a la casa de misión para una capacitación con los secretarios, los asistentes, y las enfermeras. Después almorzamos y seguimos con la capacitación. Después fuimos a la oficina para llenar formas, escribir a sus familias, y tener sus entrevistas con Pte. Dennis. Después fueron al templo. El siguiente dia tuvimos una capacitación con sus entrenadores y al final del día fueron a sus nuevos sectores. Fue muy triste pensar que fue nuestro último grupo de nuevos misioneros. Vamos a extrañar esos tiempos especiales.

ANOTHER APPENDECTOMY OTRA CIRUGIA DE APENDICE

When we first started our mission three years ago, our first night we got a call that a sister missionary three hours away needed emergency surgery to remove her appendix. We didn't know anything about where she was or what we should do!  It was a tender mercy and answer to prayer when later that night another doctor determined she didn't need the surgery.  But within our first two months in the mission, we had three additional emergency appendectomies.  We hadn't had one in a very long time, but on Sunday, May 29, we spent six hours in the hospital waiting for doctors to operate on this elder, who not only had appendicitis that hadn't been detected, but also had peritonitis because the appendix had burst.  The Lord watched over him and within a few days he was able to be released.

Cuando empezamos nuestra misión hace tres años, la primera noche recibimos una llamada avisándonos que una hermana misionera en Portoviejo necesitaba una cirugia de emergencia para sacar su apéndice. Nosotros no sabíamos nada relacionada con donde estaba ella y que debíamos hacer! Fue una tierna misericordia y una respuesta a nuestras oraciones cuando mas tarde esa noche, otro doctor determinó que no necesitaba la cirugía. Pero dentro de dos meses, tres misioneros tuvieron que tener esa cirugía. No habíamos tenido una cirugía por un largo tiempo, pero el domingo, 29 de mayo, pasamos seis horas en el hospital esperando la cirugía de este élder quien no solamente tuvo apendicitis que no detectaron, sino que también peritonitis porque el apéndice rompió. El Señor le cuidó y dentro de pocos días pudo salir del hospital.

ANOTHER FAREWELL DINNER OTRA CENA DE DESPEDIDA

The following Thursday, May 26, we had another farewell dinner for four elders leaving the end of May and six elders leaving the end of June. We had to divide the June group because it was so large. It's always so hard to say good-bye to to our wonderful missionaries.   

El siguiente jueves, 26 de mayo, tuvimos otra cena de despedida para cuatro élderes que iban a terminar el fin de mayo y seis que iban a terminar el fin de junio. Tuvimos que dividir el grupo de junio porque habían muchos. Siempre es tan difícil decir adiós a nuestros maravillosos misioneros.
