Another Group Leaves

We had another farewell dinner last night for ten of our elders. Nine of them came from the North mission and one from the South, so they were only with us for four months, but we will miss them a great deal. Several of them were zone leaders.
Tuvimos otra cena de despedida anoche con diez de nuestros élderes. Nueve de ellos vinieron de la misión norte y uno vino de la misión sur, así es que solamente estuvieron con nosotros por cuatro meses, pero les vamos a extrañar mucho. Algunos de ellos eran líderes de zona.

Saying Good-bye Again

We were sad to say good-bye to one of our wonderful sisters. She has been a great missionary and one of our sister training leaders.
Nos dió tristeza decir adios a una de nuestras maravillosas hermanas. Ha sido una gran misionera y una de nuestras hermanas líderes de capacitación.

District Conference in Jipijapa

We had district conference in Pedro Carbo and Jipijapa this month. In Jipijapa, the leaders had lunch for us Saturday when we got there (ceviche--Pres. Dennis was in heaven!) and then between sessions in the evening the R.S. prepared dinner for the leaders and their wives. It was delicious!
Tuvimos conferencia de distrito en Pedro Carbo y Jipijapa este mes. Cuando llegamos a Jipijapa el sábado, los líderes nos dieron almuerzo de ceviche (le encantó Pte. Dennis!). Entre las reuniones en la tarde, la sociedad de socorro preparó una cena para los líderes y sus esposas. Fue deliciosa!

Sarah's 15th Birthday!

Our daughter, Sarah, celebrated her 15th birthday with a surprise party in the mission office on the way home from school. Her friend from Mexico was with her. Thanks to the office elders and nurses who decorated and helped surprise her. It wasn't a quinceñera, but she will never forget her 15th birthday here in Ecuador.
Nuestra hija, Sarah, celebró sus 15 años con una fiestecita de sorpresa en la oficina de la misión después de la escuela. Su amiga de Mexico estaba con ella. Gracias a los élderes de la oficina y las enfermeras de la misión que decoraron y nos ayudaron con la fiesta. No fue una quinceñera, pero nunca va a olvidar su cumpleaños de 15 años aquí en Ecuador.

Here there is a tradition that person celebrating the birthday has to bite the cake, so her Dad pushed her face into it.
Aquí la tradición es tomar una mordida de pastel, así es que su papá le empujó su cabeza al pastel.

Investigator Iguana Invades Mission Leadership Council

When we finished our Mission Leadership Council meeting for October, the missionaries found an iguana trying to get into the church. Pres. Dennis couldn't resist picking it up and getting some pictures with the missionaries.

Cuando terminamos la reunión de consejo de líderes para octubre, al salir los misioneros encontraron una iguana tratando de entrar a la capilla. Pte. Dennis no pudo resistir la tentación de tomar fotos con ella y los misioneros.
