LUNCH FOR OUR SECRETARIES AND ASSISTANTS ALMUERZO PARA NUESTROS SECRETARIOS Y ASISTENTES

One Saturday in August we prepared lunch at the mission home for the office secretaries and assistants. Our previous mission secretary, Elder Barth, was also there because he was preparing to leave to go home the following week. It was great to have him with us as well. We made Mexican hot dogs and horchata and the elders loved it. Mexican hot dogs are hot dogs wrapped with bacon and then there are lots of toppings to add besides the normal hot dog toppings -- guacamole, onions, tomatoes, salsa, jalapeños, etc. We knew they loved them by how many got eaten--about 30 in total!! We had no leftovers!! We are so grateful for all our assistants and office secretaries that we've had over these past two years. They work so hard to help us and the mission. What a blessing they have all been!!

Un sábado en agosto, preparamos un almuerzo en la casa de misión para los secretarios y asistentes. Nuestro último secretario de la misión, Elder Barth, estaba allí también porque estaba alistando para regresar a casa la próxima semana. Fue muy bueno tenerlo allí con nosotros también. Hicimos hot dogs mexicanos y horchata y a los élderes les gustó mucho. Los hot dogs mexicanos son salchichas envueltas con tocino y después se pone muchas otras cosas como guacamole, cebolla, tomate, jalapeño, aji, etc. Sabíamos que les gustó por cuantos se comieron -- 30 en total!! No sobró ninguno! Estamos tan agradecidos por todos los secretarios y asistentes que hemos tenido durante estos dos años. Trabajan tanto para ayudarnos a nosotros y a la misión. Qué bendición han sido todos!!

A NEW MISSIONARY AND VISITS FROM TWO RMs UN NUEVO MISIONERO Y VISITAS DE DOS RETORNADOS

Last week we received a new missionary and the same day we also had visits from two of our returned missionaries. It was wonderful to see them and meet their wives. We love seeing our returned missionaries find their eternal companions and begin their own families.

La semana pasada recibimos un nuevo misionero y el mismo dia, nos visitaron dos de nuevos misioneros retornados. Fue muy bueno verlos y conocer a sus esposas. Nos gusta mucho ver a nuestros misioneros retornados encontrar a sus compañeros o compañeras eternas y empezar sus propias familias.

MULTI-ZONE CONFERENCES IN AUGUST CONFERENCIAS MULTI-ZONA EN AGOSTO

Last week we finished up our multi-zone conferences. We were first in Portoviejo the week before with that zone along with Bahia and Manta and the sisters from Jipijapa. Then this past week we had two days of zone conferences here with the zones from Guayaquil along with Libertad and Daule. We always love getting together for multi-zone conferences with our fantastic elders and sisters. We have the best missionaries in the world!! This time in zone conferences we learned about the gift of tongues and learning the language of the Spirit, how to be a more effective teacher, the doctrine of repentance, and using the Bible to answer some of the common questions that other religions have about what we teach. As always, Pres. Dennis had many other things as well to talk to the missionaries about, which they really enjoyed.

La semana pasada terminamos nuestras conferencias multi-zona. Primero estuvimos en Portoviejo la semana antes con esa zona y con las zonas de Bahia y Manta y las hermanas de Jipijapa. Después, esta última semana tuvimos dos dias de conferencias con las zonas aquí en Guayaquil y las de Libertad y Daule. Siempre nos encanta reunir con nuestros maravillosos élderes y hermanas. Tenemos los mejores misioneros del mundo! En estas conferencias aprendimos acerca del don de lenguas y como aprender el idioma del Espíritu, cómo ser un maestro mas eficaz, la doctrina del arrepentimiento, y cómo usar la Biblia para contestar algunas de las preguntas que tienen las otras religiones acerca de lo que enseñamos. Y como siempre, Presidente Dennis les habló de muchas otras cosas también, lo cual disfrutaron mucho.

Please pray for our missionaries and for all the people they are teaching. Please also pray that they will be led to those who are prepared to hear the restored gospel. Por favor, oren por nuestros misioneros y por los que están enseñando. También que puedan ser guiados a los que estén preparados para escuchar el evangelio restaurado.
